A new flagship form factor
Apple on Wednesday unveiled the iPhone Duo, a foldable smartphone the company described as having the largest display ever on an iPhone while still folding to a pocket size. The device is priced at $1,999.
New chief executive leadership presented the lineup in Cupertino and framed privacy and software continuity as the features meant to separate Duo from foldable phones already sold by rivals.
Reservations and market reaction
Preorders are scheduled to open in mid-October. Shares of Apple slipped after the event as investors weighed the high starting price against a crowded foldable market.
Analysts said early demand will depend on durability, battery life, and whether app makers redesign software for the wider inner screen.
