BATON ROUGE, LA – A Louisiana middle school counselor has died by suicide shortly after an arrest warrant was issued involving allegations of inappropriate contact with a minor, authorities confirmed Thursday.
Quinton Dixon, a counselor at Westdale Middle Magnet School, was found dead Wednesday on the campus of the former Glen Oaks Middle School. According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Dixon died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The discovery of his body follows a series of troubling allegations that emerged earlier this month. According to an arrest warrant obtained by investigators, Dixon was accused of four counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. The warrant alleges that between November 2025 and early January 2026, Dixon sent a series of "flirty" messages to a 14-year-old girl via Instagram.

Court documents indicate that Dixon allegedly continued the correspondence even after the minor confirmed she was a high school student. The messages reportedly included comments about the girl’s sexual orientation and compliments on her appearance, accompanied by fire emojis.
In response to the investigation, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System confirmed that Dixon had been placed on administrative leave prior to his death.
"We are deeply saddened by the tragic events involving a member of our school community," a representative for the school system said in a statement. "Our thoughts and condolences go out to all those affected by this loss. We are committed to providing counseling and mental health support for our students and staff during this incredibly difficult time."
The school district has dispatched grief counselors to Westdale Middle Magnet School to assist students and faculty processing the news.
As the community grapples with the tragedy, officials are emphasizing the importance of mental health resources.
