Fans, Not a Studio Memo, Put Coyote vs. Acme on the Calendar

Hollywood's least romantic distribution channel is a fan petition with staying power. Will Forte told TMZ that Coyote vs. Acme existed as a finished, well-tested film when Warner Bros. declined to release it. He moved on. The audience did not. Ketchup Entertainment put August 28 on the calendar.

Forte is the coyote's lawyer. John Cena is Acme's. The joke is a lawsuit. The business story is a write-off that got reversed by noise.

Legend's industry note

If the weekend works, expect more rescue campaigns. If it does not, studios will say the shelf was correct. Either way, the actor is assigning credit to the crowd.
