HBO: Kordell Stewart Documentary Slash and Burn Premieres October 27

Slash gets his own film

HBO says Kordell Stewart / Slash & Burn debuts Tuesday, October 27, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will stream on HBO Max. The 40 minute short, directed by Brian Rivera, is the latest in the NFL Shorts series made with NFL Films.

Why it is more than a highlight reel

Stewart earned the nickname Slash with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1990s for his ability to excel at several positions. HBO's synopsis says the film looks at a malicious rumor that upended his life and the personal toll of scrutiny off the field. Bill Cowher, Jerome Bettis, Mike Mularkey, Bob Pompeani and LZ Granderson also appear.

What the network has shared

HBO has released the synopsis, the participants and the date. How the film handles the rumor itself will only be clear when it airs.
