Lionel Richie Leaves St. Louis Care and Heads West to Recover

The All Night Long tour just reminded the industry that catalog work is still physical labor. Lionel Richie left a St. Louis hospital Wednesday after three days of tests, TMZ reported, and started back toward Los Angeles.

He had checked himself in after sitting through the last number at The Muny. A June opener in St. Paul already sent him offstage dizzy. Two dates were postponed then. The pattern is now part of the routing, not a rumor.

Not a diagnosis. Not a farewell. A discharge, a travel day, and a reminder that outdoor-theater summers extract a price. Promoters will follow doctors, the way they did in June.
