A Latin-rite bishop in Ukraine has publicly criticized the Trump administration regarding its current position on the Russo-Ukrainian war. Bishop Stanislav Szyrokoradiuk of Odesa-Simferopol expressed deep disappointment in an interview with OSV News, stating that the "Voice of America" he once trusted to defend human rights now appears to be "defending the evildoer." The bishop’s comments come amid growing tension over the administration’s foreign policy decisions, which he described as being driven by self-interest rather than justice.

The prelate lamented that the current US leadership seems willing to "do business with criminals" rather than uphold the rights of suffering people. He drew a sharp contrast between the support the US provided during the Soviet era and its current stance, which he finds "deeply shocking and hurtful." Bishop Szyrokoradiuk concluded his remarks by saying that while trust in the administration’s defense has eroded, he and his community are left to pray for the conversion of those in power.
