A 10-year-old boy with autism was arrested in Florida for allegedly scratching his teacher

A 10-year-old boy with Autism was arrested in Florida for allegedly scratching his Para Professional some 6 months back.
After attending the school with her son to complete his standardized testing, she was notified that her 10-year-old son had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
According to Ms. Haygood, She was not contacted by law enforcement about the warrant and no officers ever came to her home to notify her.
Her son who has Autism was then placed in handcuffs and then arrested last Wednesday at 11:50 am.
He was taken and held in the Okeechobee adult jail until approximately 4:00 pm.
He was then transported in handcuffs to the juvenile detention in the next county.
Ms. Haygood says that she was contacted at 7:30 PM by the DJJ and became aware that her son had not yet eaten and that he had to be held overnight until court the following morning.
Ms. Haygood is currently seeking legal counsel.
