Join us as we delve into her journey, insights, and the empowering message she hopes to share with women everywhere.

1. Early Influences: Can you tell us a bit about your parents and how they instilled the values of servant leadership and community support in you? Are there specific moments or stories that stand out?

My parents were exceptional role models who emphasized kindness, empathy, and community support. They would often volunteer together at the polls, and local fundraisers.  This  instilled in me the idea of giving back. One specific moment that stands out is when they organized a fundraiser and clothing drive  for a local family in need. Watching them rally friends and families in the community to support those facing challenges taught me the power of collective action and compassion—values that have shaped my approach to servant leadership.

2. Journey into Insurance: What inspired you to start your insurance agency, and what were some of the challenges you faced in your first few years?

I was inspired to start my insurance agency after realizing how vital it was for families to have financial security and peace of mind. The first few years were challenging; building trust and clientele from scratch was no small feat. I faced difficulties in navigating the complexities of the industry but stayed committed to my vision. Establishing strong relationships and providing transparent, helpful service helped lay the foundation for my business.

3. Community Impact: You mentioned pouring back into your community. Can you share a specific initiative or project that you were involved in that had a significant impact on those around you?

One initiative I am particularly proud of is the "Insurance Awareness Day," where we educate community members about the importance of insurance and financial planning. We offered free consultations and workshops, which significantly helped families take charge of their financial health and security. This project not only educated the community but fostered relationships that continued to thrive long after the event.

4. Leadership Style: As a servant leader, how do you define your leadership style? Can you share an example of how this approach has influenced your work and your relationships with others?

My leadership style is rooted in servant leadership, which means prioritizing the needs and well-being of others. An example of this was when I implemented mentorship programs within my agency to support new agents. By focusing on their development, I fostered a culture of collaboration and empowerment that led to stability and growth for both individuals and the organization.

5. Lessons Learned: Over your 22 years in the insurance industry, what are some of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned about helping others and building a successful business?

Over my 22 years in the insurance industry, I've learned that genuine connection is key to success. Building relationships based on trust not only helps in business but allows you to understand and address the needs of your clients better. Compassionate service and dedication to client education have been my guiding principles in offering meaningful support.

6. Inspirational Stories: Can you share a story about a client or community member whose life you felt you significantly impacted through your work? What was the outcome?

One client who stands out is a single mother who came to me for assistance after facing financial difficulties. We worked together to find the right insurance that fit her situation, which ultimately allowed her to regain her confidence and financial security. Seeing her thrive and succeed beyond those struggles was a profound reminder of the impact we can have on each other’s lives.

7. Overcoming Challenges: Everyone faces obstacles; can you share a specific challenge you encountered in your career and how you overcame it? What did that experience teach you?

A significant challenge for me was the economic downturn, which affected many in our industry. I focused on re-evaluating our business strategies and enhancing client relationships through added value, such as educational content and personalized support. This experience taught me the importance of adaptability and resilience in facing obstacles.

8. Advice for Future Leaders: What advice would you give to someone who aspires to be a leader in their community or industry but feels hesitant to take that first step?

My advice is to start small and be authentic. Identify a cause you're passionate about and take that first step—whether it’s volunteering, speaking out, or initiating a project. Leadership is born out of action and sincerity, and by embodying those values, you can inspire others to join you.

9. Legacy and Vision: Looking back at your career and your contributions to the community, what legacy do you hope to leave behind? How do you envision the future of servant leadership in your field?

I hope my legacy reflects a commitment to empowering individuals through education and support. I envision a future where servant leadership is the norm across all industries, reminding us that success is best defined by the positive impact we make on others.

10. Continued Involvement: How are you continuing to engage with your community now that you’ve retired from your insurance agency? Are there new projects or initiatives that you’re passionate about?

Since transitioning from my agency into management, I am embarking upon several health and wellness initiatives focused on women, including workshops and seminars about gut health and its overall impact. I’m also working on building partnerships with local health organizations to further promote awareness and education on women’s health issues.
