Tell us what you do professionally! Im a Specialist in Youth Violence Prevention" as well as Justice Impacted Adult Advocate. I use my 1st hand experience to redirect the lives of those who need it most. Tell us more about why you got started! I became a Specialist in Youth Violence Prevention and Justice Impacted Adult Advocate because I witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of violence and the justice system on young people and adults alike. Growing up in a community where violence was prevalent, I saw many of my peers fall victim to the cycle of violence and get caught up in the justice system. I felt a strong calling to use my own experiences and knowledge to help redirect the lives of those who need assistance the most. I wanted to be a voice for change and an advocate for justice that could help others rebuild their lives. My personal journey has allowed me to become well-versed in the challenges that youth and justice-impacted adults face, and it has also informed my approach to prevention and intervention programs. Through my work as a Specialist in Youth Violence Prevention and Justice Impacted Adult Advocate, I have been able to provide resources, education, and support to help empower individuals to overcome their challenges and create positive change in their own lives. It is a calling that I feel very passionate about and I take pride in every step of the journey towards creating a safer and more equitable future for my community. First and foremost, it's important for young people to have healthy relationships with adults they trust, whether that's a parent, teacher, coach, or mentor. These trusted adults can provide support and guidance when needed and can help prevent feelings of isolation or rejection that may contribute to violent behavior. 2. It's also important for young people to learn healthy coping mechanisms for stress or frustration. This can include things like exercise, talking to friends or family, or practicing mindfulness or meditation. By learning how to handle difficult situations in an adaptive way, young people can help reduce their risk of turning to violence. 3. Encourage young people to get involved in positive activities, whether that's joining a school club or sports team, participating in community service, or pursuing a hobby or interest outside of school. These activities can provide a sense of purpose and belonging and can help young people build self-esteem and confidence. 4. Model positive behavior in your own relationships and interactions with young people. This includes being patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental when communicating with them. By treating young people with respect and kindness, you can help foster a sense of trust and connection that will make them more receptive to your guidance. 5. Finally, it's important to know when and how to seek help if necessary. If a young person is exhibiting violent behaviors or is struggling with mental health issues, it's important to reach out to a professional who can provide support and guidance. This may include a mental health counselor, crisis hotline, or other resources available in your community. By prioritizing the mental health and well-being of young people, we can help prevent youth violence and promote positive outcomes for all. Alexander great food, nice meeting venue! Are you an animal person? Yes, I absolutely adore my Chihuahua! From the moment I brought him home, I knew that they were going to be a huge source of joy and happiness in my life. One of the things that I love most about my Chihuahua is their personality. Despite their small size, they have a huge personality and are always eager to play and interact with me. I also appreciate how loyal and affectionate they are. Whenever I come home from work or errands, my Chihuahua is always the first one there to greet me with tail wags and kisses. They truly have become like a member of my family, and I can't imagine life without them. Plus, they're just so darn cute! Whether they're snuggled up on my lap or running around the house, they always bring a smile to my face. Overall, my Chihuahua is my constant companion and brings so much love and laughter into my life.
